Any women have this happen?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 6/14/13 and had been told I had PCOS in the past and had very irregular cycles most of the time I didn't even have one. Since I started my liquid diet I have been having regular cycles. I'm not on any form of birth control because I was told In the past that I would have a difficult time getting pregnant. Two weeks ago I was on my period. For the past 3-4 days I've been having a light pink spotting...please tell me you guys had this and that I'm not pregnant! I want a baby and that's a huge reason as to why I was even banded, but I've only been banded for almost 4 weeks. I want to be closer to my goal and healthy! So please tell me that someone else experienced this with hormones getting back into whack. Also, what kind of birth control do you ladies use? What works best with the band?

You should call your GYN. No matter what anyone has experienced, everyone is completely individual. If this is not a normal pattern for you, only your doctor can diagnose.

Good luck!

A friend of mine fell pregnant a month after her surgery. She lost 25lbs in her pre-op and that was enough to get her ovulating again. I'd suggest you go pee on a stick and call your obgyn. If you don't want to get pregnant for a while, maybe you need to go on birth control for a little bit.

Well I called my GYN and they won't put me on BC b/c of my hypertension (which im no longer on meds for, because ive lost 50 pounds and it runs 120/80) and diabetes (which I'm only borderline and do not require medication) they said my only option is the mireana, however I do not want the mireana b/c we want to start trying by early next year, it is long term and in some cases actually cause you to become infertile.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
