I'm 11 days post op, down about 16lbs- very grateful for that.

Problem is I'm having terrible pain. I've read some post about the vegus nerve damage and now convinced that is what I have. Ever since the surgery I've had a runny nose and my ears are muffled(not due to flu). I also have servere shoulder and stomach pains. At about 2pm everyday and when I start to get hungry, each hungerpain will be 10times worse than before banding and that shoots up the worst pain to my shoulder, that lasts up to an hour.

Will this eventually go away or am I stuck with this for life??

And what did your Dr. say when you talked to them about the symptoms you are having?

Aww man, I'm so sorry you are feeling like that. I'd say the best thing is consult your Doc. I'm not sure what is normal and abnormal but I would for sure call and see. I really hope you start feeling better soon and get everything is taken care of! :D

Your doctor is the only one who can diagnose your particular issues. However, it seems way too early to know if what you're feeling is permanent "forever" damage, or just post-op healing. If I were a betting woman, I would say the latter of the two.

Hope you feel better sooner than later.

I had a similar experience. The pain in my shoulder was very sharp but gradually decreased until it disappeared completely about three-four weeks post-op. Using a heating pad helped me a lot. Hope you feel better soon!

I had the shoulder pain too and it will cease. It takes time.

Consult your doctor, I have no clue what could be going on. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, but I think it passes. I had painful hunger paings for a few days, but I'm over that now - I know when I'm hungry, it just doesn't hurt anymore.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
