Shante92 2 Posted July 8, 2013 How do you guys handle giving yourselves a shot. Is it pretty simple? I start the blood thinner shots tomorrow and I've never fathomed giving myself a shot once, let alone for 10 days. I'm thinking about going to my mom's everyday and let her do it. DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 8, 2013 I have to give myself shots regularly for MS and in comparison, the Lovanox is a piece of cake. It's given in your tummy and the needle is tiny. Honestly, I never even felt them at all. It's a piece of cake. Btw- it's good you'll be on it for 10 days. I went through blood clots recently and it's pure hell. It's awesome your doctor is pro-active in preventing them. 2 SeaSounders♥ and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
dlkumes 42 Posted July 8, 2013 I agree with mis. I am post op and just finished my 7 days if shots. Twice daily. They are really tiny. I bruised a bit but it was no problem. 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Sojourner 2,446 Posted July 8, 2013 Like anything else new to us, it does get easier with practice. Not the most appealing thing to do...but keep focused on your goals.
Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted July 8, 2013 I had to do Lovenox shots for 3 weeks (I think). I'd never given myself an injection before but it wasn't at all difficult. The needle is tiny and the Lovenox came in pre-measured disposable syringes. I was told to inject it into my thighs (they didn't want any injections near my healing incisions) and believe me, there was plenty of flab there. The Lovenox stung going in, and the needle left bruises (I bruise easily anyway), but it turned out to be no big deal. It did, however, make me glad I don't have to do several insulin injections a day for the rest of my life. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
