Mcrutchky 30 Posted July 8, 2013 Do you have a support group over there? If not I can let you know about the support groups in E-town and at Baptist East in Louisville. I have not been banded yet....still waiting for approval.
aclifford 0 Posted July 8, 2013 I had my surgery at St. Mary's in Lville they have them there but it's hard to find the time to go. I'm tired if choking, throwing up and still not losing weight. This has really been a struggle for me.
dfav3412 116 Posted July 8, 2013 You need to go back to your surgeon and most likely have an upper GI done to see what is going on. Believe it or not but if the band is positioned correctly and no problems in that area you just may be too tight and need Fluid removed. It is really sad that the majority of lap band patients have the surgery but are orphaned meaning they do not get follow up from their centers and I don't mean a once a month meeting...I mean a one on one with the bariatics coordinator a minimum of once a month but prefereable every week for a year or two. And too many times the lapband patient's idea of "restriction" is not what it is suppose to mean in the lapband world-that word needs to be banned. So, please do make an appointment with your surgeon because you started this journey for a reason which most likely was to get healthier and to feel better about yourself. You are worth the effort and good luck! 1 donna12 reacted to this
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted July 8, 2013 I agree with all of the advice above. 1) Get to your doctor to get a checkup. 2) Get support. Lap band is MUCH more successful with support. 1 donna12 reacted to this
carolperkins 0 Posted July 15, 2013 I am in the same boat and I think having a person to share with might help me. I had surgery in Jan. 2012 and lost 60 pounds in a year so I was flying high. then I started cheating with a little of this and a little of that. Next thing I know I have gained back 15 pounds. I am so mad at myself, but I feel like there is a demon inside tempting me. Saying food has control over me seems so silly, but it does. As long as I am busy, I don't think about food, but when I am not, all I want to do is eat. I have had my band tightened four times and I still eat too much, even of the things I am suppose to eat. Do you have the same problem? Carol
roobearb 5 Posted July 15, 2013 Hi I was banded aug 29 2012 I had lost 90 lbs over the span of 9 months I felt awesome I went from a 5x in pants to a 26 and a 5x shirt to a 2x but sad to say I have gained 10 lbs in two months I am still doing all the things I'm suppose to be doing other then my biggest problem has came back with a vengeance I m addicted to candy i have tried to put myself back on a liquid diet to restart my system but it hasn't worked more then a day or two at a time. I have had many time in the last two months the thoughts of maybe I made a mistake choosing the lapband instead if the gastric bypass or I should just have it taken out. Then I remember what I felt like 80 lbs ago and how much sadder I was and it gives me the extra push to try and go one more day without the candy and doing what I'm suppose to do I don't always succeed but I will try again tomorrow you can do it I agree with the others get checked out by the dr and get a support group you can do it if you want to chat I'm here
