I crave a lot of watermelon , does anyone else or know if its ok to eat?

are you on solids? if yes, sure you can have it. just be careful with sugar when it comes to fruit...it can be higher than you realize.

When I was back on solids, I wasn't allowed watermelon (and many other fruits) for awhile. My doctor has the progression setup a certain way, and melon was several weeks out. I would ask your doctor if it's okay for you, depending where you're at. Certain foods create bloat and gas, and some doctors don't add everything back all at once, even if you're past the mushy stage.< /p>

I love watermelon! I'm 2 months post op and I have trouble with it. It's like I can feel it stuck in the the middle of my chest even though I can get Water and other foods down with that stuck feeling. Not sure if it's because I accidentally take too large of swallows. With all the water content it's hard to tell when it's chewed to mush. I'm basically avoiding it at this point.

we have "sugar baby" watermelons down here.. they are seedless and so sweet... 85 calories for a cup.. not bad .. like the others said,, if you are on regular food, okay if not.. not okay

Thank you.

You can cause the sutures that hold the band to your stomach to tear lose and the band can slip. Most docs won't allow solids for at least 2 weeks and many not for 4 weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
