I've been reading some of the threads and I'm concerned and confused. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I've been following my diet just as I was told. But I have noticed that I tend to forget to drink my liquids slowly. I'm afraid I'm might of done something wrong because I feel heartburn. It doesn't feel too bad and it does go away after a while. After reading about slippage I'm afraid that might of happened. My first filling is set for June 18, that's when I'm planning to tell my doctor about my concerns. Has anyone experience this without it being slippage?

Did you have heartburn prior to surgery? Like something you required meds for? You might want to call your doctor now with your concerns.

I would only get heartburn after a big meal or late at night. Nothing that required meds. Do you think it may be slippage? I'm feel disappointed already. I'll call my Doctor on Monday.

Thanks

Of course this is just my opinion but, chances are very slim you could have caused any damage with liquids....although I suppose it is possible. Are you having any trouble getting liquids down...when you drink them slowly? Band slippages, while its a common topic on here, really aren't that common. Especially with todays surgical techniques.

Heres an answer from a DOCTOR. Take it for what its worth. http://www.realself.com/question/gastric-band-slippage-symptoms

Lap-Band Slippage Symptoms

Slippage or pouch dilatation can occur if the Lap-Band moves down the stomach, or if the pouch above the band stretches up. Patients with these problems may notice heartburn or regurgitation of food at night when they lay down. Slippage of the band is unusual and occurs in approximately two or three percent of patients. It can cause acute symptoms of abdominal pain, or can cause failure to lose weight. The acute symptoms are pain, bloating, vomiting or difficulty in swallowing liquids and solids.

It might also be that you are drinking too fast/drinking too much at once and it is causing you to have heart burn symptoms just like when you ate too much food before. Just a thought.

Thank you all for your input. I think that it may be just that I'm drinking liquids too fast. Today I had mahi mahi and as soon as I felt comfortable I stopped. Didn't drink anything until much after eating and I'm feeling better. Who ever thinks that we took the easy way out by having weight loss surgery is sooooo wrong. It takes discipline and dedication but definitely a learning experience. <3

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
