I had my surgery through TR on June 11. I have my first fill scheduled this Thursday.

For those of you that have used TR will someone at this meeting talk to me about nutrition, meals, etc?

At this point I haven't met with anyone except the nurse who did my pre op assessment. I went in late Friday afternoon for a consultation, that rolled into the pre op assessment. Ten days later I had my scope and then 14 days later surgery. I met my surgeon on his way into the operating room. In fact after he talked to me I remember panicking because I realized just then that my band wasn't going to have Fluid in it and I had this "vision" of starving to death for the next 4 weeks!

Don't get me wrong, the people I've talked to at TR have been nice, I just read on here about people meeting with nutritionists and their surgeons and nurses and I'm thinking how nice that would be. I'm hoping to see some of that Thursday.

Where are you having your fills? I go to TR in Richardson. At my first few appts. they gave me a book and a few pamphlets about nutrition. At my first fill they gave me a little more nutrition information. This information may be what you need. I've done so much research and read other books so I felt like the information they gave me was redundant. Let me know if you have any questions.

Richardson as well. I really didn't do any research (shame on me). I went in just for a consultation and came out with surgery scheduled. My wife compared it to going to the fair and coming back having purchased a hot tub.

I don't have "buyers remorse" at all, just feel a little in the dark when compared to what I read other people's experiences are.

I would call them and ask. I didn't go to true results, but I've had 3 nutrition appointments, and email my nutritionist whenever I have a question. You need more support than what you have gotten so far. It isn't just about having the band placed, it is about a total lifestyle change. From what I've heard on here true results sounds like a lap band factory where you don't get any support or follow up. Please correct me if I'm wrong about them.

You are in good hands with True Results. I go to TR in Austin. They have a nutritionist on staff if you have questions, call them & make a appointment with the nutritionist. You can meet with him/her anytime (separate from your fill appointment).

Also, the nurse practitioners (who will be doing your fill) are very knowledgeable about nutrition and can answer most of your questions.

The other thing I recommend is attending the monthly support meetings, you will get a lot of great suggestions and advise from the other patients.

Good luck to you.

I may go to the support meeting too! Maybe I will see you there. Your comment about the state fair cracked me up! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
