The band was the same on the 4th as it is on any other day...so food was not an issue....plus, since being banded I do not eat meat anymore so no dogs, burgers, ribs, anyway....

I did do some beer drinking...when I do I generally do not eat as a precaution.

I nibbled a little as I had two BBQs to go to. I used small plates and had no more than 4 bites. However, I did do my Turbo Fire workout this morning.

I did GREAT! I am a little over 2 1/2 weeks post op and worked until 3pm (and I work in a hospital that was full of junk food and snacks) then took my kiddos over to family's for a BBQ as I sat there and chatted while everyone else ate, I drank my Water with Mio, I don't care that much about food anymore, Its the reason I had to get this surgery, and now I got the band im not messing it up. I see how easy it is for one to cheat on their diet, believe me I thought about it and that's that just a thought. going strong.

I'm feeling good/proud. made it thru the holiday on pre-op diet and tackled it by not hosting a BBQ, and the only people I had over all know about my upcoming surgery and elected to eat before they came to my house to watch the fireworks (which are basically right off my front steps :). it has helped that it's been so hot, i have less appetite anyhow - and i took all opportunities to play with my nephew and swing him around (he's 3) and be the one shlepping chairs about, etc. Kept me busy and moving. :)

Sounds like you are doing great preparing yourself! Congrats to all of you who are pre-op or post op. Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
