I feel your pain. I have guests coming over for dinner. I made a 3 course meal, baked bread and cannot touch any of it. I will stick to my yogurt and shake.< /p>

Being brave and sticking to your food plan is GREAT!! Your family and friends are a great way to catch up and talk and forget about the food. I am getting good with that. Always carry a drink of Water and maybe you will forget about the 'wrong' foods.

Happy 4th!!!

I was banded in Jan... I have made it through birthdays easter, anniversary, and now 4th of July.. family grilled burgers and dogs.. I ate about 1/2 of a burger , no bun, a small spoonful of baked Beans and some pineapple (fresh) small piece... I remember past holidays with gorging and feeling sick from eating too much then feeling guilty because I was so fat and uncomfortable.. today we did get in the pool and I did a few laps.. anyway there will be lots of holidays that you can enjoy but just less food.. it's so worth it.. I have lost 45 lbs and I am way happier and healthier than I was.. keep your eye on the prize..

Ahhhh memories! When I had my surgery I didn't go back on solids until 4 days after Thanksgiving!

Sounds like me and my daughter. I chose to go out instead of cooking that Thanksgiving. Between 8 of us, we brought home 9 boxes! You can get through it, just remember why you did this! Best wishes, happy holiday!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
