Major pain at port side. Hurts when I cough. I had to sleep in recliner with a heating pad. Drank almost an entire blue raspberry isopire last night to keep my strength up. Been drinking iced tea after nasty liquid lortab. Hurts more than I expected at port site and less due to gas pains. Sipping some hot tea now. Thinking about how to get up and go potty

Sounds like you are on the mend.... nIt will be all up hill from here. Take your time, but try to walk.

The first few days it was easier to walk when I held my belly to keep it from moving. Every day

I felt better....

Best wishes on your journey!

I'm ten days post op and I too started that pain, way more than i thought but thats why the surgeon says you had surgery lol......the first week the worse, but try putting a pillow on that side when you get up and always roll over to the side before u get up....also ice it , I know it sucks but it will help with the swelling :)

Congrats Downysoft! I must have missed your surgery date. It will get better as everyone here says. I'm 8 days post-op and am finally feeling really good. I found that putting some drink in my mouth first and then pouring the lortab in and swallowing quickly lessened the nasty taste. Take your lortab regularly and don't try to push yourself too hard too soon. I hope you have someone there to help you get up and back into your chair. I second whoever said to use an icepack on your port site!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
