Lectured by My Fitness Pal

Recommended Posts

So my fitness pal keeps lecturing me that I am not eating enough calories! It's set on a 1200 calorie diet, but I'm only 2 weeks post op, I am eating all sugar free, low fat and sticking to my diet. I don't think it's possible to eat more. I mean it's POSSIBLE, lol, but... I'm not hungry since I started on mushy food , so SHOULD I be eating 1200 calories or not? I am averaging between 800-900. I just yesterday was able to start to get enough Protein in the day, because of switching to mushy foods. But I'm full!!

There is a way to change that #. It is somewhere in the settings. I set mine to 900. And it doesn't lecture me anymore. :)

My Fitness pal and other such apps where not designed for WLS people in mind....I know there are many people who live by it, but for me, one of the most significant turning points in my success was when I stopped obsessing with an app like that, and concentrated on the WLS itself and eveything it was intended to do for me....

But that was what worked for me.....other people have their success stories....

I found the way to change it, thanks!! It just makes sense to log the food though. In all the years of trying to lose weight. The Only way it ever worked for me was to track food and exercise . Otherwise I lose track of calories in/out

My dietician said Fitness Pal is good for logging food, but not too good for calorie counting for us. I have to work at it today as I am bad at food logging and I need to do that. I may not be getting enough calories as yesterday I counted only 600 and that is not enough to lose weight.

I have started to use it to track food too. I need to reset the calorie counter. I noticed it says I should eat 165 grams of carbo a day. No, way could I do that and not gain weight.

?

It worked for me, 500-600 each day while I was losing. It depends on your exercise and the type of calorie you are taking in. Talk to your NUT and have it set for what works for you.
