I had a lap band installed a year ago and it has been one of the greatest regrets of my life. four months after surgery I was still having abdominal pain while working out so that routine was lost to me. my most current issue is; pain while eating. my band only contains 4cc of Fluid and I experience pain while attempting to eat most foods every time I eat. I don't have reflux or vomiting just pain and occasionally mass saliva is produced when I feel the pain. I have relocated in my post opt period and it has been a struggle finding a doctor who will take me being post opt. I have found one but it will be a period of time before I'm able to get in. has anybody dealt with these symptoms and found what caused them. is it a slip?

.Reports of Pain should be evaluated by a band doctor, I realize that you've moved recently? but perhaps you need to keep looking for someone to see you ASAP.

Pain during eating could be due to bites of food being too larger especially when you say it causes increased saliva=sliming... A good start would be to have Fluro or Endoscopy so that they can check the band position, flow through the band and the esophagus, food stuck can cause pain from pressure on the esophagus. Hope you get some help soon!

Could you be more specific with what kind of pain/where, how long does it last, is it piercing or more like discomfort etc. Do you have any history with getting stuck etc. Slips are usually accompanied with new or increased signs of acid reflux/GERD, increased appetite and ability to eat more (or not at all) etc. Only way to know is to have a fluro study to be sure. Unfortunately the options are endless from eating too large of bites to erosion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
