day 11 post-op

Back at work! Sitting at my desk is a bit uncomfortable because i can feel my port. The port forces me to sit up straight and not slouch. Other than that it's all good.

day 12.

I think my bottled ready to drink Protein drinks have more sugars or something. I say that because my weight has been at a stand still since I started drinking them on Sunday. Im going back to mixing my own Protein ASAP! 1 scoop of protein, 7oz Water, 1oz 2%milk. this bottled stuff is very milky.

Premade def has more sugar than any of the powders I have. I'm getting a little tired of the shakes. I heard at support group last night abt a brand that starts with "necta" and has some interesting flavors. I'm gonna try and track it down.

I *think* this might be what the gal was describing: Syntrax nectar brand. Check out netrition.com/syntrax_nectar_page.html

Lottttttts of flavors. Expensive. Think I will try the variety sampler pack.

@tamara3569 - my pre-op diet was a Protein Shake for Breakfast a small meal for lunch and a Protein shake for dinner. i had to atleast get 60 to 80 grams of protein in a day. Then 48 hours before surgery only liquids... I have lost 15lbs since the 15th of this month just on the pre-op diet......Surgery is tomorrow morning.....

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
