I'm SO excited for you! So happy that you are doing so great already and you have not even had surgery yet, LOVE the positive attitude! My surgery is in July as well, but I have seen so far to make sure you have Gas-x strips... hahaha. Out of everything people keep telling me they say the Gas pains after tend to be the worst, not for everyone but just in case I would have some on hand to help after surgery! Hope everything goes wonderful for you and cant wait to hear how it all went! xx Best Wishes!

Good Morning! How exciting for you! I have been banded for almost 2 years now. I am typing this as I sit on the deck looking out over the ocean. I am on vacation in Outer Banks, Nc. I have lost 90 pounds and it is so wonderful to go out on the beach in my tankini 2 piece bathing suit and not feel self conscious about the way I look. I am proudly strutting around! So all that being said to make this point.... You will have a couple of tough days during your first week or so after surgery, but think about the payoff in the long run. It will be sooooo worth it. I lost the weight relatively quick (about 6 months to lose the 90 pounds) but everyone loses at different rates so don't be discouraged if it is losing slowly as long as it is going in the right direction. Walk! Walk! Walk! as much as you can after surgery. The more you move the better you will feel. Go shopping now and buy the stuff you need for after surgery. Your diet and nutrition needs, the gas x (I never used them though). Take very loose fitting clothes to wear home after your surgery. Most importantly- stay focused and be positive!!!

Oh wow! That's so inspirational! Thank you for replying. I think I have everything I may need all set and ready to go, but I hadn't even considered what I might wear on the surgery day, so thank you! The thing I'm most nervous about is taking my first sip of Water after surgery. Will it feel weird?! Surgery doesn't scare me at all, but altering my body does. It just makes me a little apprehensive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
