I can't find where applesauce is listed in my post-op book under a certain diet. Does anyone know what their docs say? is it under full liquid? pureed? I have been eating it but my sister just pointed out to me it wasn't listed under full liquid diet....I thought it was....

Applesauce is a mushy food...not a liquid.

Yogurt is also not a liquid, yet it is listed as ok under full liquids....

your dr. must have a different definition of liquids. yogurt was also a mushy/pureed food per my post op list. just to be sure, call the office to confirm that applesauce is ok.

another example of how different dr's are

on my full liquids, i was allowed applesauce and yogurt (which i dont eat)

as long as you are eating/drinking what you dr advised/suggested

then you are good.

I as told by my nurse to empty my pills into applesauce and take them that way the day after surgery. I had a hard time digesting it I only ate the amount necessary to get the medicine in my body, but it seems to be ok if you are handling it well.

My post-op diet is 3 days of Clear Liquids, then 5 weeks of full liquids + Protein Shakes. Applesauce is ok (no sugar added). This is my 4th post-op day, just had my first "full liquid meal"- runny oatmeal, with half a package of Unjury unflavored Protein. Four tablespoons filled me up. Daily goal is 40-60 gms protein, but everyone's requrements are different.

Applesauce is on the permitted foods, (No more than 2) for day 3. This is from True Results out of Scottsdale. But I would follow what your provider recommends since they will be the ones supporting you.

Did applesauce as mushy food and still do. Have a teaspoon of sugar free coolwhip on top. Oh, yummy! (I say that sarcastically).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
