herestoanewlife 28 Posted June 30, 2013 Was wondering as anyone been sleeping on their side? I am post op day 5 and have tried but the last two nights I have had to get up and sleep on the couch with a heating pad because of back pain
beanie80 146 Posted June 30, 2013 Haven't quite gotten there yet myself. Sometimes I can do a half side for a little bit, but always more comfortable on my back.
j0anna 37 Posted June 30, 2013 I had to put a small pillow kinda under my belly to support it. It helped a lot. 2 candtwalker and alm73 reacted to this
marimari15 9 Posted June 30, 2013 I'm 8 days post op & have been sleeping in my side since day 4. It's actually been my most comfortable position. My back did bother me as well so I started switching to each side during the night. Also, I used a few pillows to be on a slight incline while in my side. Good luck & hope u find a comfortable position soon!
herestoanewlife 28 Posted June 30, 2013 Thank you everyone. I will try the extra pillows. Good luck to you all as well
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted June 30, 2013 On your side is typically the hardest way to sleep post op because it pulls on your stomach. Have you tried a body pillow? I propped myself up on one to sleep on my side and it was great. 1 ShantelleElaine reacted to this
laura.nix20 1 Posted July 1, 2013 It took me about 6 days before I could lay on my sides, but I always had a pillow around my stomach & that helps!
alm73 8 Posted July 1, 2013 I'm 4 days post op and can lay on the side opposite my port...with a support pillow. Good luck!
AZ Gary 149 Posted July 1, 2013 I agree the pillows help when laying on your side. I have to use a CPAP machine for the first week so I was sort of forced to lay on my back. (But I found a way)
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted July 1, 2013 Right after surgery I was most comfortable slightly upright in a recliner. After a few weeks the side was fine and now I prefer it.
