Crunches

Recommended Posts

I am 7.5weeks post op and wanting to start doing crunches but only light easy ones. When did your doctors give you the ok. I have been given the ok to run, walk and play netball/basketball so I am hoping I can do crunches

Idk about when you'll be able to do crunches but if you want to strengthen your abs you should try pilates! Way more fun and more effective then crunches. I did the videos cuz I wasn't brave enough to go to the classes lol. My doc told me at 6 weeks if everything goes well I can resume all exercise so I'm sure that includes ab stuff!

At my 6 week appointment I was cleared for everything. I specifically asked about crunches and planks. Good luck!

I just started working with a personal trainer and highly recommend it. One of the exercises for the corevis to get on hands and knees then lift right hand and left knee about 1/4 inch from floor and hold gor 30 seconds. Form is highly important. Back must be flat, no curve at shoulders. Tighten shoulder blades and butt. Then switch. There are other exercises where movements are subtle but benefits are great. I don't recommend crunches. Too many ways to hurt your back, neck etc. And no fun. Lol

My dr said while I was still in hospital that I could exercise as soon as I felt up to it, that I couldn't 'dislodge' anything by exercising. I started walking 3 days post op and was back to doing crunches 1 week post op.

Most docs will green light crunches but focus on full body activities for your main source of exercise because you'll burn far more calories. Your quads are the biggest muscles in your body so be certain they are getting a workload. You can't lose belly fat by doing spot exercises anyway but crunches will help firm those mid section muscles.

Thanks guys. I already walk 6-7miles a day and have already lost 36 pounds since I started my 2 week post diet 9 weeks ago. I now wanna focus on toning my abs area and still continue walking of course.

I've been working with trainer for a month now and have been so surprised at the workout I get by doing exercises I never knew existed. Full body workout with emphasis on my old chubby lady issues, like lower back pain and not being able to gracefully get up from a low squat (like when you are comparing products on bottom shelf at store!) Even if you only hire a trainer for one month, you will be far better off. Get someone to get you started at the level you need focusing on what your body needs most. Everyone has to be different right?

I have been working out since the day my doctor gave me the ok in 2009. The one exercise that irritates my band, is crunches/sit-ups. I recommend planks and leg lights for core strengthening.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
