45 lbs and Green Zone! + NSVs

Recommended Posts

I had made a post recently that I was .5 away from having lost 45 lbs... today I have made it to 45!

My highest weight was 357. Surgery was May 6 and I was 350. I am now at 312!

My first fill of 4.5 cc out of 14 was June 3. I went in expecting to have my second today and was told my loss was way over average and there would be no reason to give me another.

It's so surreal to me that I've lost that much - too bizarre to process in my head.

I recently put up my first profile picture on Facebook that I've had in years. It wouldn't seem like a big deal to many, but it felt so good to be able to have a picture there I felt good enough about to share.

I know I was the creator of a very long "Miserable inside" thread a month ago... at 21 especially, this was a very difficult decision to make but I'm glad it worked out.

Thank you all who have been so supportive :) It's really appreciated and I hope we all can continue to inspire each other.

~Mark :)

This is such a great post Mark. I've been thinking of you all this time knowing what you were up against. I was also in the office yesterday...I wonder if we were there at the same time and just didn't know it. Congrats not just for the weight loss but for your attitude which has done a complete 180. I hope mom is soooooo proud of you. I know I am!

Wonderful! I'm sure she was just scared for you and didn't know what the future would hold. And now she knows everything is OK and is supporting you. Well...guess what? Turns out we were there at the same time. I had a 1:20 appointment. We were both sitting in the office together and didn't even know it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
