I am just a week post-op, my incisions look "good" but it feels like there is a lump, like a hard ball under the center incision. None of the others (I have 5) have it. Any ideas? Was thinking maybe the start of scar tissue? If it is is there any way to make it not form, I'd rather not have a lump in the center of my stomach, in the same area as the button on my pants (when I can get them back on) Thanks for any info and suggestions!

Here is a blurb from WebMD regarding incision care after surgery. It mentions the lump....

You may notice some soreness, tenderness, tingling, numbness, and itching around the incision. There may also be mild oozing and bruising, and a small lump may form. This is normal and no cause for concern.

I hate to ask this question, but just in case, the center incision or the port incision? I just want to make sure that you are not worried about the lump caused by the port under the incision.

Actually - a really GOOD question.

Actually - a really GOOD question.

I know sometimes questions seem redundant, but I just had to ask because honestly I forgot about my port for a second and I bumped into it and was worried why I had so much pain, and then DAH husband says honey your port it there!

LOL! But I don't think the question is redundant at all. My initial thought (and response) was based on a small lump I had under an incision from kidney surgery. The incision lumps are pretty common. It never OCCURRED to me that it may be the port! Duh is right :P

It may be built up Fluid near you incision, I had that happen. Just let your doctor know. The fluid can easily be removed

It is the center one not the one to the left where the port would be... but good call... it feels like it is right under the skin too not deep...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
