What was anyones weight when banded...

Recommended Posts

I was only 190 pounds when I was banded. I was banded almost 3 weeks ago.. Now I'm currently 172... I'm only 5'2 and my doctors set my goal for 125 .. So I still got a ways to go. I feel GREAT! Was in liquids for the first 2 weeks now on soft and next week regular. I'm adjusting wonderfully. Hopefully the sleep apnea will go way and my cholesterol will go back to 170 instead of years of it being 250... And I get off my blood pressure meds..... That will really be my accomplishment then of course the new smaller me;)))

I was 209lbs when I was banded and that was after my pre-op diet where I lost about 6 lbs.

I'm 5'4" and got to 154lb in 7 months, to 118lbs after another year (which my dr thought was too thin, and I think he was right even though I didn't think so at the time), then forced myself up to 130lbs and stayed there for about 2 years when I sprung a leak.

My leak's been fixed, I'm 144lbs now but most importantly I have BFP of 19%, so I actually think I'm almost at my perfect size. :)

When I started this process, I weighed 296. (i'm 6 feet) When I started the Pre-op diet, I had lost 6 pounds on my own. I then lost about 15 more on the Pre-op diet. Three months post-op and I now weigh 252. At my highest weight, I was 311 and I was terrified I would be there again or higher.

Not banded yet, but currently 263 as of this morning. Surgery is in 3 weeks but ive been making better choices the last year preparing for the insurance and stuff. I was 290 when I started the process so I've lost a few pounds the last month or so, my surgery was supposed to be June 24th so I was on liquids for a while but then it was switched to the 22nd. Anyways, my goal is 145 but my Dr. wants me at 126, I'm 5'4. :D :D :D

I was 204 before surgery on 05/01/2013 for my consultation, which was not my highest of 212 a few months before that. Day of surgery 06/13/2013 I was 194, and today currently teetering between 188 and 189 depending on night or morning, but have lost more inches than pounds. I am 5'2, oddly enough I didn't get a goal weight from the doctor yet? However I am goaling towards 135, but I am sure from others who are roughly about my height, that will be lower for the doctors goal for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
