debpaige 35 Posted June 26, 2013 I'm 16 days post op ... I don't know how many calories to get in to keep my weight loss steady? I do fitness pal and I track and it seems like I'm getting in about 500... Is that normal
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted June 26, 2013 I never had much luck in tracking calories. My focus was on the types of calories that I consumed. I go for food that's high in Protein and fat and low in carbs. That's how I get the best results. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and debee reacted to this

Sharpie 3,306 Posted June 26, 2013 I did not track calories that early on. the first month to six weeks should concentrate on healing not so much worrying about weight loss... if you do what they told you as far as gradually going from liquid to creamy to mushy than regular foods you will lose.. you shouldn't have much of an appetite.. concentrating on Protein is the best way to get enough nutrients.. drinking is super important so you don't get dehydrated. Good Luck.. take it easy and be patient...

yoyonomore 3 Posted June 26, 2013 I understand that most folks don't keep track of calories, but as I eat my Protein and veggies I try to keep it from 700 to 1000 calories a day. Not all protein and veggies are created equal and I think it helps me to know where I stand. 1 labwalker reacted to this
labwalker 1,177 Posted June 26, 2013 500 seems low... and at that level I would wonder what your Protein intake is? I'd suggest calling the doctor's office for guidance. 1 debpaige reacted to this
marnimae 7 Posted June 26, 2013 My nutritionist made me log my Fluid intake and Protein intake. No calorie counting b/c she wanted me to focus on these only. I was adding whey protein to my boost or Atkins shakes and I even added sugar free popsicles to my fluid intake. Are you having at least one snack a day? I know it is hard to get the shakes down but even three shakes w/o whey are about 600 calories. 1 labwalker reacted to this

mda69 36 Posted June 26, 2013 I was 600 for about 4 weeks post op. I am now averaging about 800 per day. Talk to your nutritionist. Only they will know what will work for you.
