Can you please tell me what foods are sliders? Not sure what they are exactly. And is it just a term for junk food?

It's generally used for food that goes through the band easily that does not satisfy and is loaded in calories. Examples can be chips, milkshakes, sweets in general, nachos, etc. Some people might have slightly different definitions for sliders but that's mine.

Alcoholic beverages, sugar laden soft drinks, etc. are also ways to cheat around the band... flow right through, and are loaded with useless carbs with no other beneficial nutritional values. Add ice cream to the that list, too.

Another food group that I personally miss is Pasta. Pasta such as mac and cheese, hamburger helper, lasagna, spaghetti with Italian sausage all are high in carbs and fat. They require little chewing and seem to "slide" through my band with ease. The sliding is the key word. Sliding through the pouch gives little stimulation to the vagus nerve and leaves me hungry for more. I still have them maybe once every 2 months but prior to being banded they were a weekly meal staple.

I was born and raised in Chicago. "Sliders" will' date=' for me, always be White Castle hamburgers.[/quote']

And White Castle is a perfect example of a slider food lol! I love White Castle and I actually used to drive 53 miles to the nearest White Castle when I lived in NY! I'd go on a whim and bring my kids to White Castle. Then they finally built one like 16 miles from my house on Long Island. I had to stop going there because I could eat a dozen of those little sliders easily!

To directly answer your question... Yes junk food is a "slider" food....for me it does not matter if I eat crap or clean food if I don't eat it correctly I get stuck and I like it that way. I don't feel deprived from my old favorite food I just can't eat a lot and still have to eat correctly.

Pretty much anything that melts in your mouth and you don't have to chew it to swallow it. Such as yogurt, potato chips, chocolate, ice cream, and Soup. Yes you are supposed to eat some of these things in the beginning as mushies (yogurt, soup, cottage cheese) but they are ot good for the long haul. It's like going to Starbucks and drinking your meal, not good!

Stouffers Mac and cheese is really my only serious slider. I can eat an entire HUGE portion even with the band. It's the only food I've encountered where I can overheat to this degree and the one time I really "binged" on it, I had the feeling I was stoned afterwards. It felt so AMAZING that it scared me a little. I haven't felt that in a long time!!

Sliders are very counterproductive to your weight loss. Usually they are loaded with calories (as mentioned above)

, and they go down so easily, it is easy to consume a days worth of calories in one sitting. The easiest way to avoid falling into the "slider" black hole is to make sure you eat your Protein first to keep you full longer.

My surgeon describe's "Sliders" as things that "slide" down the band. Greasy foods, ice cream, mac and cheese, candy bars, heavy surger foods.

When I just get a fill I tend to lean on sliders as I am afraid to eat solid's due to getting stuck. Slider's are generally NOT good for you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
