wadeg7 149 Posted June 26, 2013 Hi Everyone. I am 2 weeks post op just starting my soft food stage. I have been feeling much better and all my nausea and most of my gas issues have disappeared. The only problem I am having is that I am waking up with a gas pain in the middle of my stomach. Once I use the washroom or have multiple burps it is gone for the day but it is very uncomfortable when I wake up. I wear a bi pape machine at night for my sleep apnea and I am beginning to wonder if this is what is causing the excess gas because of the constant air being pumped into me when I sleep. Has anyone had the same problem?
grownazzkid 206 Posted June 26, 2013 I think it is normal regardless. I don't have gas pain, but I wake up in the middle of the night and/or morning with a serious fart ready to go... gross but funny, I think I could fill a balloon!
labwalker 1,177 Posted June 26, 2013 I've noticed that I am lot more "gassy" than preband! I've read that a high Protein diet can contribute to gas. I also use a Bi-PaP machine, at a very high setting, and I never noticed that it caused problems with stomach gas before the band.
pink dahlia 2,513 Posted June 26, 2013 I used to use a bi-pap too (No more , NSV !!!!) and was gassy too because healthy food or not, I just have trouble digesting things. I do notice im less gassy now, but the Protein shakes/ high protein diet contribute a lot to the gas problem. Oh well, I just chalked it up to a minor inconvenience on my way to a bigger payoff ! ( Healthy weightloss !) Check with your Dr , ask about a chewable Fiber pill from the drugstore and see if that helps. I love mine ! Good luck !!
