stept04 465 Posted June 25, 2013 Ok I'm going to show my ignorance here, but I'm dying to know. Now that they are classifying obesity as a disease what things will that help to change? And when does it all start, now? Thanks for you input. ~~~Stephanie 2 pastor o and Maddysgram reacted to this

labwalker 1,177 Posted June 25, 2013 Hopefully, more insurance companies will be willing to pay for treatment. 3 Maddysgram, pastor o and stept04 reacted to this

We're still going to be despised, loathed, and discriminated against. 2 stept04 and Maddysgram reacted to this
Sharpie 3,306 Posted June 26, 2013 I hope it changes the perception that all obese people are lazy.. and dumb or gluttons.. I also think the insurance coverage might be expanded.. hopefully more payment will be made for counseling, weight loss programs or nutritional programs.. 2 stept04 and Maddysgram reacted to this
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted June 26, 2013 I watched Dr Nancy Sniderman on the Today Show discussing the impact this will have and the major impact is that all insurance companies will have to start recognizing it. I'm guessing there still will be a lot of ignorant ppl discriminating against obese ppl. After all, you can't fix stupid. 4 BklynPenny, stept04, kespy74 and 1 other reacted to this

jamilyne 102668 1,207 Posted September 19, 2013 I think it could also affect the workplace and the ins cos like other people had mentioned - maybe also affect social security benefits ? I guess we will have to see. I'm sure there's lots of obese people that cannot work and maybe it will help them get some benefits they weren't previously entitled to! Let's hope!
