retiredgal60 1 Posted July 30, 2013 Congratulations on getting approved! Which Aetna plan do you have? I have Aetna as a retired federal employee, Open Access ***. DId you have to go thru the 6 month thing? I am in the beginning stages; consultation this afternoon. My BMI is over 40 and I have sleep apnea, hypertension, osteoarthritis among other problems. I am worried about the approval phase. Any info greatly appreciated.
memeb89 1 Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks.... I have pos open access 2. I had to do 4 mos including psych eval. My bmi is over 40 no other issues. They also required 2 yrs medical records that I have been over weight.
retiredgal60 1 Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks so much for answering me. How did you provide the 2 yrs medical records? Was this from your PCP what your weight has been for the past two years? I had my consult and it went well. I going to get my tests scheduled and get prepared. I'm uncertain whether I should have the band or the sleeve. I have plenty of time to think about it. memeb89 1 Posted July 31, 2013 Yes mine was from a pcp or they said any doctor that weighed me. Well my weight was 230 to 260 from the past years. Best wishes as you start your journey
Ddavis5759 9 Posted August 1, 2013 I also have Aetna and just started the 6-month pre qualification phase, beginning with August. This is a requirement from Aetna; from what I understand guidelines vary from one insurance to another. Good luck on your journey!
