I am four days post op and according to my Doctors instruction I should be eating creamy Soups with no chunks. The problem I am having is I am experiencing an acid reflux kind of symptom. I can feel almost every bite I eat as it goes down then it seems like it kinda rolls around and then I feel bubbles come back up my throat. What is causing this. I have no fill in my band so could this be due to the swelling in my stomach or what.

It might just be your stomach not feeling up to it yet.. did it do this with your Protein Shakes? ... in the beginning when i switched back to food.. i took a zantac just to be on the safe side due to a co workers story ( i prolly didnt need it).. i would call your doctor tho and see what they say.. and congrats !!

It is likely just swelling or possible you need to take much smaller sips of Soup. Or possibly both.

Also, I know you haven't had a fill yet but some doctors put Fluid in the band during surgery. You might want to ask yours if he did, just to be sure.

I'm also 4 days post op & have been having similar symptoms. I felt so much pressure & feeling of fullness that didnt let me get in any fluids. Finally took Gas X Strips today after I was told not to at the hospital & the relief was amazing! Called my dr to give me the ok to take the strips. Feeling sooooo much better now.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
