Hey guys I was banded on June 11. I lost 10lbs pre op, but haven't loss a pound every since. I've been following my diet. My first fill is in 3 wks. When do you start shedding the lbs?

It's different for everyone. You're still probably swollen. Just keep sticking to your diet and you'll get there. I was slow losing weight after surgery but I've lost 46 pounds since I was banded on 4/18. You'll get there just keep at it!

Everyone is different, so do not compare to anyone else.It will drive you crazy.

The first 6wks is for healing, not losing weight. Keep following your Drs orders, measure your portions, track and make sure you're deinking your fluids.

Congratulations on joining the banded side!

After my third fill. I was banded in early December, and had my third fill in mid March. It was then I started to lose weight. Give yourself time to heal... it takes time to find the green zone, or to get close to it. Some folks do well without any fills, but most us need several to see results.

this makes my day....I was getting depressed....I had my surgery three weeks ago Wednesday and I haven't lost any weight. I lost 20 pounds the first week of the 2 week prediet, but nothing since....glad to see that I shouldn't get discouraged....yet!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
