Broth recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I have seen a lot of pre and post surgery mentions of broth - any favorites out there? Ideally ones that aren't too high in sodium...

Campbell's has an organic low sodium that's pretty good

The best broth I found was the one I made myself. Yeah, I know.....labor intensive. But I couldn't find anything in a can to match it. It's actually pretty simple. I made chicken Soup (chicken, onion, celery, carrots, salt & pepper), removed the solids, strained the broth......good to go. Otherwise, it was Swanson's low sodium in the can, which got really sickening on a regular basis.

I tried the broth by itself and it was horrible. No flavor. So, I started draining the broth from campbell's chicken noodle Soup and it was much more flavorful. Probably because of the salt content.

Unjury has a good chicken Protein. Otherwise use Swanson but cook with a mir poix mix and then strain out.mir poix is onion carrots and celery to add flavor.

unjury is great! I couldn't handle any others. It's worth ordering!

I tried it once and the Water must have been too hot / it got very funky.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
