Just wanted to say love NC. I was born in Jacksonville and I have family in Sneadsferry NC. Haven't been back in awhile We we're military so we moved a lot and eventually after retirement got stuck here in TX for the jobs. My husbands in aviation, it's big here. Enjoy it for me. :)

I'm from the midwest (Iowa), but moved to Texas as soon as I could after college. Texas has lots of jobs (unless you are in education) and it is very pro business. No state income tax. The beaches aren't that great since they are on the Gulf of Mexico, but we have lots of nice lakes. The weather is awesome. What is your occupation?

I'm at RTP fairly often for business. Are you in the Raleigh-Durham area?

Knew I liked you. Didn't realize you were from FL

yes I live in North Florida, between Lake City and Live Oak... about 30 min from the Ga. border..not close enough to the beach though.. but I grew up in Orlando and lived near Daytona for many years...

I live 100 miles south of Tampa. My mom & sis live in Gainesville and I've camped at the Suwannee River camp up there.I love that area!

One day we'll have to hook up for lunch or something.

I would like that let me know the next time you are coming this way... I own my own business and work at home so I am available most of the time.. I also go to Gainesville to see my surgeon about once a month so that's another good meeting place... you can email me @ charhorse@msn.com

Thanks for your response..

Well I'm biased to Oregon because that's where I'm from. If you live in the metro area, you're only a couple hours away from beaches, hiking, skiing, etc. It's a beautiful place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
