My Fitness Pal driving me crazy!

Recommended Posts

I have been using it for about three weeks. I am consistently over on Protein and fat (cheese) and under on total calories. It keeps telling me I am going to shut down my metabolism. It causes me to eat at night just trying to get my calories above 1200 with my exercise and walking... 3+ miles per day, 6 days a week.

HELP! I am actually gaining weight by counting this stuff. About to abandon all hope. I am up 4 pounds from my docs goal and cannot get below 183! What am I doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem with my fitness pal it keeps telling me I need to eat more also. I also have FitBit and I like that tracker better. Right now I could eat 1200 calories if I tried.

I use my fitness pal and I just set the calories and not worry about the rest. I will look and see what my Protein intake is but usually I just set my calories and go with it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the input. I think I need to call my nutritionist.

I posted a similar question earlier today about myfitnesspal and why it says you won't lose if you stay under 1200. The thread is in the nutrition section and called "curious about calories in, calories out." There have been some good replies that may help answer your question.

Guys, MFP doesn't take into account the low calorie intake of WLS patients. Just ignore the warning about shutting down your metabolism and you eat like you are supposed to for the band

Thank YOU so much! I should have known that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
