Sunshine4U 14 Posted June 20, 2013 I am on day 4 of my pre op diet and I am having trouble eating. I am struggling to sip all this liquid, broth, shakes, Soup because I am not hungry. I thought I would be ready to gnaw an arm off but I am forcing about 900 calories down cause I know I need the nourishment. What can I do to get some appetite I still have 8 days til banding? sp70 193 Posted June 20, 2013 After a couple days on the preop diet I was no longer hungry as well. I had my 3 Protein shakes a day and did my best to force down the 64 oz of Fluid. Other than that, I didn't worry about it too much. I thought I would have the opposite affect on liquids as well, but was surprised. 1 Sunshine4U reacted to this

gigglypug 77 Posted June 21, 2013 If you used to eat a lot of simple sugar and starches, quite a bit of your "hunger" most likely was driven by insulin spikes/sugar crashes in the past. If you've ever done Atkins (or, to some degree, South Beach), the decrease in appetite when going to a low carb/high Protein diet should be quite familiar. It sounds as though there might be a psychological component as well, perhaps anxiety about the surgery? In any event, enjoy it while it lasts...it's a great feeling NOT to be hungry when trying to lose weight

Yea I do have a little anxiety about my upcoming surgery but I know I haven't come this far to chicken out. Sunshine
