deleteme 176 Posted June 19, 2013 I've been reading about people sleeping in their recliners after surgery. I am having surgery Thursday (6/20) and now I'm freaking out that I won't be able to sleep as I have no recliner. Eek! Tell me I'm being lame. dee21 47 Posted June 19, 2013 Hi. Don't worry!! I'm 1 week post op and I've been in my bed the whole time. I have lots of pillows including a body pillow. Honestly sleeping flat on my back or side (day4 and not on port side) is the most comfortable. Even on the couch I lay flat! ???Š

I just added it to my "list". Thank you for the "don't worry" I feel better. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
parisshel 1,892 Posted June 19, 2013 I wouldn't imagine lapbandsters have as much of a need for a recliner to sleep as other WLS, such as the sleeve. I slept in a bed from the get go and, other than not being able to roll over on my port side for about a week, there wasn't a problem. Being tired post-surgery makes it easy to sleep! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
nina874 48 Posted June 19, 2013 I am with the other posters, I slept in a normal bed - I had forgotten about the sleeping on your non port side
Erin O'Donnell 61 Posted June 19, 2013 Yeah, I slept on my back and in my bed. Like someone else mentioned, being tired post surgery plus any pain medication will make sleeping easier
B-52 7,113 Posted June 19, 2013 I did not get out of my recliner because it was necessary to stay there.....I stayed there because it felt good to stay there, in front of the big screen, covered in a comforter, (Jan), sipping my broth, and thoroughly numb from all the good drugs....I don't think I could have gone anywhere else..... 1 Cory_Sanchez reacted to this

Sharpie 3,306 Posted June 19, 2013 I slept in my recliner (it has electric button to raise the foot part).. It wasn't too long before I was sleeping normally in my bed though...
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted June 19, 2013 I was in the reg bed and slept on my stomach (my normal position). I believe I had so much stomach fat that I couldn't feel my port area and it wasn't not uncomfy in the slightest..
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted June 19, 2013 I had no problem sleeping in my bed. The trick is crawling in on your hands and knees (after hysterectomy was taught this). I slept on side with a pillow around my stomach for support. When you get out of bed, roll out. Only time I slept in refliner was after taking pain meds and just happen to fall asleep, the couch would have worked too.lol 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
sp70 193 Posted June 19, 2013 I slept in my bed too! I slept in my normal positions side to side and back. When on my sides I tucked a pillow between the bed and my side to help support my belly to keep tension from pulling on the port and did just fine.
utkscvol1 125 Posted June 19, 2013 I had surgery on the 13th. Last night was the first night I slept in my bed. I chose my recliner due to gas discomfort. It was, for me, the most comfortable place.
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted June 19, 2013 The recliner was the way to go for me. If I wouldn't have had it then I would go with bed our couch with lots of pillows to prop up.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted June 19, 2013 Not only did I sleep in my bed from the first night but I actually slept on my stomach, too. Not a single problem.
