Hunger is the body's natural response to needing fuel. For most of us, we will always have some degree hunger just a lot less often.

It takes most people multiple fills before they band starts to control their hunger. Be patient, it'll come.

You probably havent hit your sweet spot yet. saying which you will still feel hungry when you have a band - you just wont be able to eat as much and you will feel full for longer. Dont forget that actual 'god I am starving' hunger and "nom nom that cake sure looks tasty" hunger are two entirely different things. Learning to distinguish between the two is as much of a learning curve as learning to eat with your band. I call the latter one head hunger..... that one is trickier!

Wait a couple of weeks and if you can eat way to much in each portion and you are still feeling hungry then get a top up.

You're always going to feel hunger. However, the goal is to get to a good enough restriction where you eat and feel full for four hours. Drinking lots of fluids about an hour after you eat will help prolong the 'full' feeling and keep you from getting hungry but at first, you just need to get fills/adjustments until you get to a good spot with your band.

I'm the same as you! I was banded May 9, 2013. I finally had first fill last week, 3cc. I've lost total of 10 lb. My next fill is July 10th. I feel no restriction. I'm focusing on drinking Water, eating lots of Protein and healthy Snacks to keep me full. And I'm walking.

Everyone tells me to be patient and that we WILL reach the green zone. Six weeks postop with only 10 lb loss is discouraging when I hear of others losing 30+ in no time at all. But I can't compare myself to everyone else.

Hang in there!! Keep doing what your dr instructed.

Sky have you tried speaking to your nutrist....let then know you feel you may need a fill before July and are you getting your Protein in like 60-80grams a day? try eating fish, chicken and see if that helps, but you will be ok until you get your adjustments don't get weary you will get there soon, I promise, we have all been where your at sweetie, its all apart of the journey....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
