Is it safe to eat little? I'm 3 weeks post op. mostly liquids and takes all day to try and get close to a full Protein Shake. I'm afraid to eat.

Why are you afraid to eat,Don't be afraid to eat, you are in the healing phase and they would not tell you to eat something you shouldn't, just follow your post-op diet and be positive, you need to eat for energy.

I know your not supposed to have carbonated drinks but they don't seem to bother me, just don't drink carbonated drinks when you eat

Thank you!!!! I ended up having vodka and diet 7up last night. Alcohol did hit me sooner then it used too but felt nice to relax. Not to be nasty but after I drank, I was able to get a lot of gas out. Did carbonation help? Back to being good today!!! Thanks everyonw

Ladies please be careful with an carbonation! The carbonation can be harmful even if it feels ok

What is the actual reason that banded people can't drink carbonated beverages.. Is it because the gas causes our stomachs to expand? That's all I can think of

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
