RFW 19 Posted June 18, 2013 Just looking at a bunch of topics & it seems like most people are constipated after their surgery. Does any one have the reverse affects like having the runs ?
utkscvol1 125 Posted June 18, 2013 It took me 4 days post op before having one but mine have been- of course all I'm getting in are liquids.< /p>
stept04 465 Posted June 18, 2013 I did on day 3 and then nothing, I actually got constipated after that. But I have seen a lot of post were people had diarrhea, so it is normal too. Liquids in liquids out they say. ~~~Stephanie
feelinggood 152 Posted June 19, 2013 It's an ongoing problem for me and hard as a brick more often then not now nearly 6 months post-op. I have taken milk of magnesium a couple of times but really hate to be dependent on laxatives.< /p>
leighw 12 Posted June 19, 2013 Any idea on when pain gas goes away? Starting to get really annoying. The only relief is laying in a reclining position.

I haven't slept in my bed since surgery Thursday. I've been in the recliner. I work up with a bit of pain in one shoulder this am but it was gone by 10- none since then:)

I work up with a bit of pain in one shoulder this am but it was gone by 10- none since then:) Last night I actually think the pain was making me nauseous. My body wanted to throw up but nothing came out. I'll be glad to feel normal again that's for sure. I keep thinking "what the hell did I do?"....I don't want to think like that. Ugh... GuyMontag 1,264 Posted June 19, 2013 The best advice I can give pre-surgery, post-surgery, and for the rest of your life is to always make sure you are drinking enough fluids. 1 ShantelleElaine reacted to this
Mandi1441 23 Posted June 19, 2013 My doctor told me to take stool softeners every night from now on. It was very important two weeks before surgery and after. I was told the pain meds cause Constipation. I found out they weren't exaggerating. I had been on liquids for weeks and still had problems. I still can't figure out how liquids make a solid. Oh well, I just make sure to take my stool softeners.
