How does it physically feel ?

Recommended Posts

I just had it done last week. I felt fine after 3 days, I feel like I did before.

The first day not too bad, at all. It's the gas pressure that is bothersome. Of course you're a little sore from the VERY small incisions, but I was so pleasantly surprised. I was so so anxious before, and I feel like that was wasted energy now. Also I was anxious about the clear liquid diet after, and that was tolerable as well, because you really don't feel like eating. You are going to do great. It's easy to say now, relax :) but I completely understand where you are at.

My advice: pack yourself lip balm to keep your lips moisturized, a pillow for car ride home, also have on hand at home; Gasx (that is advice many on this board gave me and it helped. I was banded June 4.

You are having very normal feelings and thoughts. The only pain I had was the gas in the shoulder and mine was on both right and left with some in the lower neck. This lasted 2 or 3 days. As far as the band itself I had not pain except where the port was installed. I can still feel it pinch a bit if I slouch to the left too far. Sort of reminds me of my 4th grade teacher telling me to sit up straight. Like any surgery there is a time of just being patient and healing and then life goes on. Just remember, chew, chew, chew, sip, sip, sip and walk walk walk when you are up and able. Best of luck.

I remember asking this same question right before I was banded--haha

I feel pretty much the same. I can feel my port. Now that I have lost all the weight, it does stick out a little and because of where it is my pants shorts sometime fall right on top of it... Which on occasion will be uncomfortable.

Internally I feel the same. Every once in a while I have a little pain or discomfort in the area I think my band is in, and i wonder if it is actually the band or something else. But it is very mild and doesn't alarm me at all.

The biggest difference for me is that I can actually feel the food leave the upper band pouch as it enters the lower stomach. Not painful... I just have that awareness.

Other than that it is not different than before. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
