So I started my preop diet last Thursday and have been doing simply okay. I had a scope today which left me feeling horrible all day. I've been practically passed out on my couch since I got home. Also, my diet got messed up because of the procedure. I was a bit nauseous afterward so I didn't have my shake when I got home and had very little Water until I drug my arse out of bed at 12:30.

I was left with this AWFUL taste in my mouth from the procedure. And they gave me a med via my IV that dried up my secretions (saliva) which has been fun to deal with.

Then my body decided in the middle of the month, being on the pill, to start bleeding fairly heavily. I've also been having crazy cramps that Tylenol just doesn't touch. No Motrin for me for awhile.

Ugh, I've been unable to control my snackiness all day. Hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

I just feel sick to my stomach after the procedure and I've been burping a lot.

Anyway, sorry just needed to complain.

Oh I am sorry that you had such a crappy day. I am sure that your body is a bit confused at the moment with the pre op diet and then the procedure yesterday. Just try to focus on all of the good things that will come when you have had the procedure and you are on your way towards your goals. I always found that picturing being able to wear hipster jeans gave me the kick that I needed when I got down :)

I feel ya! I hate those days! I can imagine what your going through but be strong! Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully things will be brighter for you! Those scopes are never easy, but give it a day or two and hopefully you wont have any of the after effects anymore!

Thanks for all the kind words! I feel back to normal again today. I have my preop appointment with my surgeon today at 12:30 (AZ time). I am back to being excited.

The surgery center called today to see how I was feeling after yesterday and informed me they put air in my belly for the scope. Explains the monster burping yesterday! Haha!

I also woke up this morning with my weight loss since Thursday still hanging at 4.5 lbs. so I didn't do a ton of damage in that regard with my snackiness yesterday. Phew again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
