Luce3 9 Posted June 18, 2013 I haven't been on here for a while! but for the past few days i've been getting stuck quite a bit, mainly when I've been eating bread, so I'm definitely going off that! But my main problem is the pain of getting stuck, before when I used to get stuck it wasn't so much painful as just uncomfortable, but now it hurts so much when it happens, and i'm not sure if it's because i've recently been sick with a chest cold and maybe it's still a bit sore or something? But it's incredibly painful! Has anyone had this before? Thanks
2muchfun 8,927 Posted June 18, 2013 Your body can retain fluids when we're sick. This swelling includes our hands, fingers and stomach lining. Also, extra blood flows to our stomachs when we get stomach bugs. Your stomach could be extra sensitive due to the extra blood and Fluid retention.
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted June 18, 2013 I agree and think being sick could be intensifying it. It wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about this if it persists. Also, bread doesn't go well for many of us and for me is one of the easiest things for me to get stuck on and the most painful when it has happened. Now, I only eat bread in very small doses and either well toasted (breaks up and dissolves easier) or as part of a sandwich. For me, it seems to work easier like that. I rarely eat bread for that reason but if I do, stick to multi-grain bread. The denser (multi-grain) or drier (toast) bread are easier for me to eat. 1 Luce3 reacted to this
nina874 48 Posted June 18, 2013 I get a terrible pain under my ribs if I get well and truly stuck - or when I fly which I do every other week? - it has only started happening in the last 12 months, but it always wears off. Cant tell you why, but wanted you to know that you aren't the only one! 1 Luce3 reacted to this
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted June 18, 2013 Whenever I would get stuck I would immediately go on a liquid diet for a few days to let my stomach heal. Start out with some Protein Shakes, then mushies, then slowly introduce solid foods again. Once you've got it irritated and swollen it's just going to continue to hurt. If you're doing liquids for a few days and its hurts or you can't get them down you're probably going to need some Fluid out. If you can't swallow your own spit then you need to call the doc ASAP. 1 Luce3 reacted to this
