hockeymother 178 Posted June 18, 2013 I have every intention of eventually wearing a bikini. I am only 4 1/2 weeks post, and want to get a head start to get rid of the discoloured scars on my belly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what works best to diminish the scars?
drehn88 251 Posted June 18, 2013 Mederma (sp?) is prescription strength but sold OTC. I tried to use it on a burn scar but you have to be very diligent and use it everyday for several weeks. It's kind of expensive, like $20 a tube. 1 Wanna-Be-Healthy reacted to this
Ladybandito 516 Posted June 18, 2013 Break a Vitamin E capsule and put on your skin. You can hardly see my scars! 2 hockeymother and girlgetsLB reacted to this
michpell39 399 Posted June 18, 2013 Circular massage on the scar helps that's what my surgeon had me do with my breast reduction , twenty minutes you massage the scar with little circles , my scaring is so faint you can barely see it
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted June 18, 2013 i am a year post op and you cannot (see) 4 of the incisions and only a very extreme slight little line where my port is....i have not used any special cream. i guess nature is healing it......and if i ever did wear a bikini again (not hardly) i would not let that little mark bother me.....its my reminder of my friend. hockeymother 178 Posted June 18, 2013 Thanks all. I am Ojibwa Canadian which means I have darker skin. So whenever I get a scar it really shows up, a few shades darker than my mocha coloured skin and is extremely visible. I burnt my forearm on a hot pan last year and the scar is so dark across my arm that everyone asks about it.

blondegal_ 1,028 Posted June 18, 2013 My understanding is that sun exposure within the first year of getting a scar can make it worse. I actually have a scar on my leg from childhood that freckled. But I am fair skinned with some freckles anyways.

BayougirlMrsS 3,935 Posted June 18, 2013 ok, so i know that this is stretch mark cream... but i really think it helps http://stretch-marks.../strivectin-sd/ This is where my port scar ended after the tummy tuck.. and this is the TT scar at 16 months. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
dawalsh 919 Posted June 18, 2013 Breaking open a Vitamin E gel cap and rubbing on the scar every single day and that should help fade it out. It takes awhile but it worked for me.
Playrider 34 Posted July 4, 2013 Neosporam-works well to keep from becoming infected and helps w scaring and is an over the counter ointment
lellow 1,713 Posted July 4, 2013 I have dark skin so I know how you feel. My scars go brown instead of fade. But as someone who rocks a bikini (often) I can tell you not ONE person has ever mentioned my scars, and if they did, I'd tell them they're looking at all the wrong things! Having said that, I've since had tattoos on my tummy to cover my body lift scars, which were massive. There are ways you can works with having scars, I think, but honestly I think the little ones from the lapband op aren't so bad and I would warrant a guess than only you would be conscious of them. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and hockeymother reacted to this
