I live in Florida and have decent access to fresh fish. Problem is I have no clue how to cook it properly. I don't have a grill bc I live in an apartment. Suggestions?

I just bake it in the oven. Or, I make a tinfoil "tent" around it and bake it in there to keep it moist.

One of my favorites is taking orange roughy or tilapia filets. Put a couple quick sprays of "I can't believe it's not butter" on it, a little salt and pepper, then a couple slices of onion and Tomato on it. Make a tinfoil tent around it and bake it at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Open the tinfoil and throw away the tomato and onion slices- they were just to flavor it.

Enjoy!

It makes a really flavorful and moist fish dinner!

I eat fish about 4 times a week and I bake it and it is amazing! I spray the pan with pam put the fish on the pan spray it with i can't believe its not butter on it with your favorite seasonings. I like garlic powder, chili powder and some everglades :) Cook until it is flaky!

Fish fillets with cumin, chili powder, salt and lemon juice rubbed on real good. Grill with non stick spray and top with finely shredded cabbage diced tomatoes and avocado. I add a dollop of Greek yogurt and tobasco. You could put this in grilled corn tortillas to make tacos or not. It is my Mexican take on fish tacos. LOVE IT!

I eat fish almost every night. I bake mine, too. I loved breaded tilapia, but am staying away from breaded. So, I have found that ground flax seed makes a great breading, and then add a little Zaterans to the fish. Yummy! di the same to flounder lastnight, was great too!

I'm new to cooking fish myself, but I've been buying the frozen fish haddock fillets from costco. They have both breaded and unbreaded, but the breaded have twice the calories :( Taste good, though! I use our small toaster oven to cook my fillets. I make my own tartar sauce using low fat or low calorie ingredients. Funny thing: before the lapband I was challenged to cook a hotdog on the grill. I eat fish at least 8 times a week. It is nothing but healthy compared to red meats. Fish is very healthy and is a great Protein. One four ounce fillet is about 100 calories. Not knowing what I am doing, I use a meat thermometer to ensure the fish is at least 160 degrees before eating it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
