I was just banded on Thursday 06/13. I don't have my first appointment till 07/24 which is about 6 weeks after surgery. Does that seem normal? I am not even sure if I had a fill in surgery.

That sounds about right.although I had an incision check a few days after surgery.the next few weeks are for healing, following the post op progression diet . good luck.

Judy - if you're not sure about the fill & want to know, call your doctor's office & ask.

I was in the same boat; didn't know if I had any Fluid in my band at the time of surgery. I heard comments (office staff) that there is a tiny bit of Fluid, but not enough for restriction. Well.....what does THAT mean? Anyway.....when I went for my first fill about 4 weeks after surgery, I found out that there was 3 cc's already. She bumped it up to 6.4 cc's, which was fine for about 2-3 weeks. Now I'm at an even 7 & seem to be doing fine.

PS: When you need a fill, you will know it. The hunger shortly after eating is a dead giveaway :P I couldn't go more than two hours without feeling like I was starving. That's what's known as "banded hell".

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
