I was up and walking 3 hours after the surgery I was determined to go home that night but everything is different. I had surgar free popsicles, heating pads, and gas x strips at my house. I was walking around my house non stop because I had bad left shoulder pain. I am 7 week post op and I feel amazing you can do this and I will see you on the other side. Good Luck.

Congrats to you making the best decision of your life. You will never regret this move. I also was scared about the actual surgery but I was determined to do this. Nothing else worked and I was getting old and I didn't want to die before I could collect Social Security. I found the surgery to be a piece of cake. If I didn't see the 5 small slits in my stomach I would of bet I didn't have the surgery. I stayed in the hospital over night but I felt very good and could of gone home that night. I never had the gas or shoulder pain they warned me about and I never used a pain pill that was prescribed. Good luck with your surgery and welcome back to the real world. You'll wish you would of done it long aga, I sure do.

Congrats! I go in Friday.

As far as suggestions, I have found some on here and other places so I have stocked up! These are what I have prepared.

Meds- gas-x, chewable/liquid tylenol and an anti nausea med (chewable or liquid), pill crusher if needed, something for Constipation (MiraLax if I can find it here) or Laxaday if needed.

- liquid or chewable multi Vitamin and Calcium.

- lots of Water, herbal tea, diet juice, sf popsicles, broths, protien Water, Jello

- ice chips

- Unflavoured/tasteless Protein powder

- heating pad

- pillow to hold on your stomach

- a cane or something to lean on if you need it to help you get up or sit down (great tip).

Someone posted a great list here - http://www.lapbandta...ds#entry2004836

I also have a couple books to read.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
