Ok so I may have overdone it today. I'm day 6 post-op. I bent over to swat a bug of my leg and OUCH!!! It hurt so bad. I believe it is where my port is. I saw stars. Now it's just sore. I'm going to ice because it looks a little more swollen then earlier today. Any advice?? I hope I didn't do anything to harm my band!! ???ž

I'm sure you didn't do any damage. It does smart though when you hit it just right (wrong). As you heal more, you'll notice it less and less. It's just sore right now because the stitches holding it in place are so new.

I would ice it today for swelling. If after 24 hours it's still sore, a heating pad will hopefully help.

Hang in there :)

I agree, I actually moved the wrong way earlier today and I has a sharp pain there, but it seems to be getting better. I would also suggest watching it for 24 hours and call your DOC if it gets worse. You are still very tender in there lady, so just take it easy. No Super Woman for a few weeks:)

Thanks for the response. I'm taking it easy tomorrow for sure. Walk, rest, walk, rest. No cooking for the family, going to the movies or hanging out outside where bugs land on me. I hate bugs. Freak out with them. Very non healing friendly.

Have a great night ladies!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
