Thanks again for all your replies qand support.

Actually it will be an interesting night. I'm heading off to NY for dinner with long-time friends. I see them about 2 times a year. They were extremely supportive of me having surgery. However, when I saw them in November, with a 50 pound weight loss, they both said they could hardly notice a difference.

Let's see what tonight brings, now that I'm down 102!

Mary,

It must be a Connecticut thing! I have lost 115 pounds since April, 2003 and no one really noticed a big difference until I was about 80 to 90 pounds down. Some people did, but I didn't get many comments until the last few months. Even so, I know what I have done....and you do too and that's all that matters....how you feel about your wonderful weight loss. You look great, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the recent comments. Since it's now almost 9 months since surgey, and since I've really slowed down with the weight loss (I'm now at just 108 pounds down), it's nice to have some new feedback. Actually, although I feel great about my weight loss overall, it is hard now that it's slowing down so much. I'm struggling a bit now - some days having real difficulty eating, and yet at night, I'm back to wanting to eat. All those old feelings of "oops, I guess this really isn't going to work" do pop up once in a while. Rationally, I know that's not the case. But emotionally, those fears are still there.

So, the renewal of this thread came at just the right time for me.

Thanks.

Mary

I called the lady that had her lap done 1 hr before me and ck'd on her since we will meet on Thurs for our 1 week post-op visit. She has lost 21 lbs. I can't hardly believe it. I didn't have quite as much to lose as she did, but I'm working on 10-12lbs. I won't know for sure until Thurs. It's amazing if we look back on how really food and too much are all the reasons for obesity. I know this liquid stage is hopefully over tomorrow and week 2 begins. lol

I had to laugh when I read what you said about your friends commenting on your new hairdo. I have a boss at work who is currently one of the top guys where I work. A few years ago, way before surgery, he was my supervisor for 3 years. We saw each other every day during that time and I weighed over 300 pounds for most of that time. I have seen him a couple of times in the last few months and all he ever says to me is "Nice hair do." He does give me a funny look most times, but he has no clue that I've lost 100 pounds since those days. Everyone else I know has noticed and commented. I was thinking about getting up a pool to see how long it will take for him to notice!

BTW you look fabuous!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
