Does any pre banisters get bullied at work for being over weight? I do and I can't wait for my surgery!

I have had remarks all of my life and I believe I eventually was able to ignore them. If I had to start the whole thing over again I would be sure to tell no one that I was having the surgery including most of my family. It just gives some idiots more ammunition for their filthy mouths. Good luck with your surgery and I'll bet it will be the best decision of your life. Some times people do not want someone else to better themselves.

If your getting bullied at work if you have a union call your union rep or go to your actuall boss if you r comfortable enough to go to them and let them know who is doing the bullying and let them know or someone hire up ,we don't like bullying .

Yeah only a few select people know I am having surgery- my aunt because she's my ride to and from the hospital, my primary doctor and of course the medical staff at True Results, all you wonderful people, and my son only because he went with me to my second appt. I am using vacation time for surgery also so I don't have to use fmla so work won't even know! I was going to try and do surgery and take the next day off but they only do surgeries Thursday and Fridays so I requested 2 wks off due to reading many post on here about being uncomfortable for a couple wks post op.

I got completely shook to my core by my so called support system so I can't and won't trust them to be here for me, and support my decision. They will only tell me how stupid and dangerous this is, but to me it's stupid and dangerous not to have the surgery!

Ok off my soap box :)

Ps I have gone to my boss and nothing was done.

I'm so sorry to hear that your being bullied but take head that God/karma des exist. I've seen it work. You must obviously be a very talented/special/positive person because bullies only like to bother those that they are jealous of. Don't let anyone make you feel bad, you have the power to decide how you feel. Keep positive.

Sorry to hear that, I was never bullied but I know that people had opinions about my weight. I have a pretty sharp tongue so I think most people knew to keep there opinions to themselves. I understand the feelings of wanting to keep this process private, but I just figured I'm gonna tell everybody. If someone has an opinion about it one way or the other the can kiss my a@&. This is our struggle, and unfortunately you can't really keep struggles with weight hidden like other struggles. Everybody has a struggle, and if they say they don't then they are liars. I posted on Facebook the day of my surgery" I had lapband today. So in few few months if I'm thinner, you will know why. And if I'm still fat...judge me in silence???Š". Take away the ammunition and hold your head high. I'm sorry there are rude people in your life. I wish the best for you, just know that there are many others in your corner, even if only in spirit.

Good Luck!

Not that you need our approval, but absolutely no doubt everyone here supports your decision. You have not just decided to address your health and weight, you have decided that you are a worthy and intelligent woman and that you deserve compassion and respect . As for your bullying workplace, do you have a lot of time invested there? Perhaps once you have gained your health and self confidence, other opportunities will arise.

People can be real assholes! Most have self-esteem issues and makes them feel better to put others down.

Don't give into them sweety:) Bullies are people who prey on other people because they have something bothering them in their own lives. Let you inner beauty shine through your eyes and as the weight comes off, they will be eating your dust! You Got THS!!

I think that is smart. Hardly anyone knows I've had it either.

It will be interesting to see reactions as weight drops. I lost 20 pounds pre-op and already saw a noticeable change in attitude towards me... So pathetic how we are judged by our appearance.

After reading this topic, I'm planning on keeping this a secret from most of my family. Even my immediate family.

I've never been a victim of bullying at work, probably just because I'm a guy. Also, I'm not exactly timid so if one of them tried to they would be in for a rude awakening. I agree a lot with what people here have said. BUT, I wouldn't wait until after you lose weight to stand up for yourself!! Your feelings are valid. You will lose weight with surgery and hard work but your self worth will not change. Your just as worthy of respect now as you will be after surgery! Put them a**holes in their place (at least that's what I would do :) ) good luck with everything, you have support here! :)

Thank you everyone for your support! It really means a lot to have a place I can go to get the support I need and to vent to people who are in the same boat as I am :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
