And I have no restriction any more and because of that I found I can eat everything I ate before the surgery which has caused my temptations to resurface and I'm finding it hard to stay on track. I'm only down 14lbs and had expected to lose more by now. Is that realistic?

My first fill is Tuesday and I'm hoping it will make a difference as feeling that restriction I fear is the only thing that's going to keep me on track.

My first fill is on Thursday. My stomach growls again, so it sounds like that is common. From what I've been told, you will feel like you did again with not much appetite again. Hang in there. Keep me posted...

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 3 weeks post -op and my fill is on Wednesday. I am so hungry now. I am having a hard time just trying not to eat over 1400 calories. I gave myself some slack since I was so hungry and at the same time trying to control it so it does not get out of control and I gain more weight than I've lost. But boy is it hard. Good luck with your fill

If your only 3 weeks post op yes, unfortunately your expecting to much :( If you felt restriction before it's probably due to surgery/healing not LB restriction. It's Tough I know but like you'll hear over and over The LB is a TOOL. It's going to take time for the tool to help in respect to restriction,( I know we all want it NOW) 14 lbs in 3 weeks is AWESOME, that's almost 5 lbs a week ;) My surgeon said 10-12 A MONTH was good, so your ahead already!!

remember slower fills tend to be better, ( being to tight stinks) and I hope you feel a little more restriction after your fill, but sometimes you won't. Reality stinks :o

What you might want to do is attend a support class, talks to others further along, get ideas on how to reduce the "mind games" try a new exercise to help with the weight loss, log calorie intake ..It all helps in the long term.

The band, or fills aren't going to do all the work (darn) but your headed in the right direction so keep moving and good Luck with your journey.

In all reality, it can take a few fills before you get the restriction you need.

Make sure you eat all your Protein first, that is what keeps you satisfied longer.

This is what we call " bandster hell", right now, its just another diet.

Do the best you can, keep busy and drink a lot of sf liquids. Hot Drinks do help. My go to is sf hot chocolate.

When you feel the hunger, pick up a glass of Water.

Good luck!

Slow and steady weight loss prevents skin not bouncing back so let it happen because it will!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
