Bigboyjess 1 Posted June 15, 2013 So this morning I had my second and hope last port revision. It had flipped again so I decided to get it fixed. Feeling sleepy and tired and hopefully I will be up and running soon.
Erbear007 2 Posted June 15, 2013 Hope you are doing well. What causes the port to flip. I'm 2 weeks post-op and still learning. Thx
Bigboyjess 1 Posted June 15, 2013 I was told that its rare. The Dr. Said that when they place the port on your abdominal wall, sometimes the port will move with the scare tissue. So the port is not flat and you will not be able to get a fill. This time the Dr. Placed a mesh behind it to make sure it stays fastened to my abdominal wall. I was banded in 09 and have no regrets.. Good Luck and stay positive.
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted June 15, 2013 Sorry to hear that you had to have a second revision. I hope this mesh thing does the trick. I had to have a revision 3mths out, like you, it had flipped. My Dr also said it was very rare. I was only his second patient out of hundreds, this had happened to. He also said mine was b/c the scar tissue had not had enough time to develop and help hold it in place. I certainly hope that same scar tissue doesn't cause it to flip again.lol I would definitely have a second revision. Good luck and thank you for sharing your experience. labwalker 1,177 Posted June 15, 2013 I know when I bend over I can feel some pain around the port--like when I'm trying to hold a chainsaw with foot through the handle and using the pull cord. I wonder if I'm risking tearing stitches when I do that? I'm six months out of surgery, so it should be healed.
Bigboyjess 1 Posted June 15, 2013 Six months should be enough time to heal. I also feel some pressure or mild discomfort when I try to pull start my edger or kick start my quad. I guess we will always have the feeling of doing something that can damage the band or port. Day 2 for me and I'm feeling good. I'm using this as a starting point to get back on track in eating right and hopefully losing more weight.
