I got to visit with my coordinator at my first post op Dr. visit. I love the fact that they don't give you the lap band and send you on your way. Each visit we talk with the coordinator about eating, nutrition, and all the changes you are going to go through in your every day life.

Guess what?!? I just found out how many carbs are in my yogurt. OMG!!! I was always lead to believe yogurt was healthy and good for you. She showed me an alternative way to eat it and it still tastes great and I can have it on my pureed food week.

6 oz plain greek yogurt

1 packet of splenda coffee flavoring french vanilla (in the coffee aisle)

I know I didn't know they had that either! :o:D

1 packet of regular splenda

Instead of the splenda flavoring you can mix it with flavored Protein powders and up the Protein it has. She said Gold Standard casein in creamy vanilla tastes like cheese cake. I love cheese cake!

I hope others will share some tips that got them through the pre and post diets, and just everyday since being banded.

I like to add stevia (or splenda) and cinnamon to greek yogurt. That combo is also good in cottage cheese warmed up a bit.

I put Mio flavoring in my nonfat plain greek yogurt. I don't typically like yogurt, but this tastes pretty good. 100 cals, 18 g Protein, and 7 g carbs. It's even better with granola, but that adds cals and carbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
