Following the pre-op diet is important to shrink your liver to make it easier for your surgeon to place the band. Some will refuse to operate if you have not done a good job following the diet. It is just the beginning, and it may get worse before it gets better until you get back to solid foods. Make sure you are committed to see it through. Failure should not be an option!

My appointment today was very short. I got my papers for pre admission testing and doc went over the surgery. I work at the hospital that I'm having the surgery at so my doc cracks a lot of jokes. We have a lot of fun!

Mine was short too. We just had a convo about what will happen and he answered my remaining questions. This diets not so bad now but here's my question. I don't know about you but my Protein shake is hard to get down now. I think I'm so tired of it that it's making me sick. I'm using unjury. What kind are u using? I think i need to change it up for a bit.

I'm on day 2 of my 10 day pre-op diet. I am on a high Protein low carb. I'm scheduled for June 26th. I drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast, a Meal Replacement for lunch and I have a lean mean with vegetables for dinner. I can only have 1 serving of fruit per day which is a snack. Good luck with your journey!

I'm on EAS drinks and I'm very tired of them too. I've been having ummmmm.... GI problems and had to take phenegran. I'm starting to feel better but I'm so ready for this to be over.

I am 3 days pre-op. I have tried many Protein Shakes trying to find something good. For me, I like the nectar brand by Syntax. I found on their website where you can order a 12 sample pack for $13.99 shipped. Call 866-333-7403 extension 803. My local nutrition shop had samples too but they were $3 each, this is way cheaper.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
