Need help/support

Recommended Posts

Hi all...I received my surgery Feb. 2010. I did really well and by the end of my first year had lost over 60 lbs and I was excited. Then came my husbands 6th military deployment overseas. He left March 2011 and was suppose to be a yr deployment, but he was injured and spent 4 extra months at the wounded warrior program 8 hrs away. :( So he didn't return return until July 2012. I did SO well until about Jan. 2012 and I had just had enough and fell back into my old habits :(( I WANT to change and get back to where I was because of course I've put on a lot of weight. I'm thankfully not where I was preop, but too damn close for comfort. This is my first time posting, guess I'm looking for some words of encouragement and ideas. I've even tried doing my preop liquid diet again, but now post deployment it's a whole new battle dealing with major invisible wounds of war as well as physical ones. Ideas & positive thoughts only please! Thanks :)

First, thank you to you & your husband for your service. Bless you!

The fact that you have not given up on yourself & your band is something to be proud of. You found your way here and this wonderful site will give you support, recommendations & ideas to help you get back on track.

I follow a 1200 calorie diet, I measure all my food, log everything on the MyFitnessPal app, drink 80 oz of Water a day and walk/climb stairs at least 30 minutes a day (I also garden on the weekends). If you have a nutritionist, I would recommend you seeing them to help you map out a good meal plan for you.I tend to eat high Protein (about 70 grams a day) and low-carbs.

Again, thank you to both you and your husband. I truly appreciate you both.

Thank you for your service, both of you. It's always a good idea to touch bases with a nutritionist who is familiar with the band. They'll listen to what you're eating now and then make suggestions on how to cut some of the unnecessary foods from your diet and add in the foods that will help your band do it's job. Also, having a well adjusted band is always super important. You did it before and you can do this again.

I have so much respect for Military members and their spouses ~ so thank you! I would go back to basics, 1 cup portions, high Protein, healthy fresh foods, lots of Water and tracking your food on something like myfitnesspal....You can do it :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
